I’m from Bozeman, Montana. My parents and my sister are all musicians, my mom plays fiddle like me, my dad plays bass and guitar and my sister plays piano.

I came to UNC for the Western States Honor Orchestra when I was in High School and had a master class with violin professor Richard Fuchs. That’s the main reason I decided to attend UNC. Professor Fuchs is just an incredible teacher, I learn so much from him every lesson. And this is just a really great school, for music especially. The really unique thing about this school is that the professors genuinely care about the students and you’ll see them hanging around outside of class. I play Irish Music at a pub on Thursdays and there are usually a few professors hanging out, enjoying the music.

I love music history and all my music classes. I’ve learned a lot! I can’t think of any classes that I really hated. They’ve all been good learning experiences. One of the greatest things about UNC is the opportunity to discover who you are and gain new relationships.

I work in the Bands and Orchestras office, doing mailings and stuff. It’s a lot of fun and I work with great people! All the conductors’ offices are right there, so I’ve gotten to know them really well, which has been awesome.

When I’m not studying, playing music or working, I try to get out and play Frisbee and soccer as much as I can. Anything to do with the mountains is great! I do a ton of skiing, hiking, camping, rafting, fishing, backpacking. Anything outdoors, I love it!
