I love performing for a live audience and want to pursue a stage acting career when I graduate. I’ve performed in The Merchant of Venice, The Elephant Man, Amadeus, Picnic, Bus Stop, A Servant of Two Masters, Flags, True West and Bug on the UNC stage and with the Little Theatre of the Rockies. We even did a stage rendition of Blazing Saddles, which was a good time. I stay pretty busy working on shows.
I love all my theatre classes, especially movement with Karen Genoff-Campbell. Her classes are amazing. When I was a freshman, I got such a rush from being in acting classes with people who are the best of the best. We were all so excited to be here and it’s still just as fun four years later.
Professor Tracy Salter really reached out to me and is the reason I’ve made it this far. At the beginning of my sophomore year, I lost my financial support and wasn’t sure how I was going to stay in school. I withdrew from classes and was brokenhearted about it. I called Tracy and she helped me figure out my finances, got me signed up for enough credits that I could still do shows and work my way back to being a full-time student. She really was a rock. She helped me stay here when I didn’t think I would be able to.
When I have free time I try to go out camping and hiking and things like that. I love riding my mountain bike everywhere. The theatre students play capture the flag on the grass near Frasier all the time, which is a blast. My roommate and I like to play video games and jam out on our guitars, which I’m sure drives our neighbors nuts. When I was young, my mom taught me how to make hemp jewelry, so I do that for fun and I sell a lot of stuff at a shop close to campus.
Frasier (where Theatre Arts is housed) is like the Greeley Hogwarts. There is a real feeling of family and camaraderie within the theatre program. Even though there’s competition between actors for auditions, everyone reaches out to help each other. There are a lot of good people that make me happy to be here.
