I’m originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. My family moved to Colorado when I started at UNC. I did kind of the tag-along thing. My older sister went here and my brother started here and now my younger sister will be a senior in the fall. I didn’t want to go to a big school. I felt like UNC was less intimidating than CU or CSU.

The Marketing Department has definitely pushed me to use the skills I’ve learned in class in the real world. We get to do a lot of projects with actual business clients, so I really feel prepared to go out into the marketing field. My favorite class has been Strategic Management. I’ve learned a lot and there have been a lot of real-world applications. I also really, really, really liked International Marketing. We had a visiting professor from Paris and it was really cool to hear about what he has done overseas.

In addition to all my great business classes, I’ve enjoyed taking some art history classes with Professor Chip Cornell. He’s been really encouraging and I can go talk to him anytime. I love how small the classes are at UNC. I can voice my opinion and get a lot of good feedback and really connect with teachers and other students.

I studied for a semester at Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand. It was the best decision I ever made. I gained a lot of confidence and really made the most of my time there. I got to travel a lot and really see the country. My younger sister was in Spain this last semester and absolutely loved it. I would encourage anyone to study abroad, it’s one of the best experiences you can have.

I’ve been pretty involved on campus and made some of my best friends through Campus Crusade for Christ. When I lived in the dorms, I was the Hall Council President, which was a great way to get involved and see what the campus has to offer. I really encourage people to get involved with their Hall Council right away. For fun, I like to do anything outdoors and UNC makes it easy to get out and snowboard, camp and hike.  Plus I’m close enough to my family that I can go home and spend time with them.
