The goal of the SSAI is to increase knowledge about and use of assessment among student services professionals at UNC.

Staff are selected to participate in the year-long institute by administrators in their division.  The SSAI consists of monthly 2 hour workshops on various assessment topics as well as an independent assessment project participants design in consultation with their program supervisor and the Director of Assessment.  Between 2007 and 2009, approximately 50 staff members completed the SSAI and presented the results of their assessment projects at poster sessions.

In 2009 and 2010, the SSAI focused on providing training for conducting program review, which was introduced to UNC’s student services and co-curricular programs in 2009.  Close to 50 staff participated in the SSAI-Program Review.
