Assessment Scholarship and Research

Assessment of student learning is an inquiry-based practice used to understand what and how well students are learning.  While the primary purpose of assessment is to improve teaching and learning, it also provides rich opportunities for scholarship and research contributions in a variety of academic disciplines and higher education practices.

UNC faculty, staff, and students are actively engaged in the scholarship of assessment.  The Office of Assessment is pleased to support this work through professional development offerings and funding opportunities such as the Assessment Leadership Institute, Assessment Mini-Grants, and the Student Services Assessment Institute.

A list of faculty, staff, and students who have recently presented or published assessment scholarship can be found here: Faculty , Staff, and Students Participating in Assessment Scholarship and Research
