Although not required, students in Asian Studies are highly encouraged to take advantage of the many exchange programs offered through The Center for International Education (CIE)-Study Abroad Office. Students may study for a summer, a semester, or an academic year or may participate in one of the faculty-led-short-term study abroad programs. In addition to intensive Chinese in China and Taiwan, or Japanese in Japan, students can also begin Korean or Thai languages in South Korea and Thailand at one of our partner schools. Students can also take a variety of other courses that are taught in English, and which can also count towards the Asian Studies major. Some programs may be cheaper than a semester at UNC! For more information regarding study abroad opportunities, contact CIE-Study Abroad Office or Michelle Low, the Asian Studies Advisor.
