Vergie Amendola, Professor of Music, is an active chamber musician who has performed in Thailand, Korea, Slovenia, Canada and throughout the United States. Her performances have included appearances at the European Month of Culture Festival, the International Horn Symposium, the International Saxophone Symposium and recitals with Ester Hinds, Reuben Gonzales, Ron Leonard, David Jolley and Jessie Levine. Ms. Amendola has performed for Norman Dello Joio, George Crumb and Karel Husa in special concerts of their compositions. In addition to her many performances with the University of Northern Colorado faculty, she has also adjudicated for the Music Teachers National Association and has taught numerous Master Classes across the United States, focusing on the unique role of the pianist in the collaborative process of making music. Ms. Amendola's work with technology in the Class Piano Program at the University garnered national attention, including coverage in the New York Times.
Before her appointment to the faculty of the University of Northern Colorado, Ms. Amendola taught at the Diocesan School for Girls in Auckland, New Zealand and in the Preparatory Department at Northwestern University. Her teachers include Rita Hutcherson, Pauline Lindsey and John Bloomfield.
Professor Amendola is currently serving as the Assistant Dean of the College of Performing and Visual Arts at the University of Northern Colorado.
