CANNON CREW AND ATHLETIC SUPPORT

BOOM! The roar of the crowd mixes with the smell of gun powder as the Bears score another touchdown. The UNC ROTC department has its own Napleonic era cannon which is brought to every home football game and is fired during every touchdown, further fueling the Bears spirit to win. In addition to cannon crew, UNC ROTC also supports athletics by providing gate security and scanning tickets, helping to make sure each game runs as smooth as the last.

Bataan Memorial Death March

On April 9, 1942 thousands of American and Filipino troops surrendered to the Japenese only to be marched for days on end with no food or water and where stopping to rest meant certain death. As a way to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice UNC Army ROTC participates in the bataan memorial march which takes place at White Sands Missile Range NM. UNC Army ROTC competes in the ROTC heavy division where each team of five must walk 26.2 miles with a minimum of 35lbs. in each individual's rucksack.
