Candelaria Hall, one of UNC’s main classroom buildings, was completed in 1973 and named for Martin Candelaria, a professor of Spanish at UNC from 1948 to 1963. Candelaria also developed UNC’s Language Arts center.

Candelaria currently houses the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School of Communication, the School of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies, the School of Social Sciences, a large number of classrooms, and a large number of faculty offices.
