Awards for Africana Studies
Departmental Awards
The Department of Africana Studies received the University of Northern Colorado Academic Excellence Award for Departmental Excellence in Scholarship in 2003. The department was notified of the award on February 24, 2003 received it at the Celebration of Academic Excellence banquet held on March 10th, 2003.
The University of Northern Colorado also awarded the Department of Africana Studies the Distinguished Service Award on November 15, 2002. The award was given to the department in recognition of its exceptional leadership and its devoted support of the McNair Scholars Program.
Faculty Awards and Recognition
Spring 2011
- Dr. Travis Boyce received the Delta Zeta Sorority (Delta Xi Chapter – UNC) Outstanding/Favorite Professor Award
- Dr. Travis Boyce was awarded an Honorable Mention for the 2011 College of Humanities and Social Sciences Diversity in the Classroom Award.
- Dr. Travis Boyce served as a Faculty in Residence for the 2010-2011 academic year for Wiebking Hall. He will continue as a Faculty in Residence for the 2011-12 academic year for Wiebking and Wilson Halls
- Dr. Reo Leslie, an adjunct faculty member in Africana Studies, received a nomination for the 2011 College of Humanities and Social Sciences Diversity in the Classroom Award.
Spring 2010
- Dr. Travis Boyce and Dr. Hermon George received the 2010 First Year Scholars Outstanding Faculty Award (sponsored by the Dean of Students Office and Housing and Residential Education at UNC).
