Participate, Spectate, Recreate

Bear Athletics

Your student ID is your ticket to UNC athletics, and with 19 NCAA Division I teams to root for, you’ll have a lot of chances to wear your Bear pride.

Men’s Sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Tennis, Track and Field (Indoor and Outdoor) and Wrestling.

Women’s Sports: Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Soccer, Softball, Swimming and Diving, Tennis, Track and Field (Indoor and Outdoor) and Volleyball.

CAMPUS RECREATION

No matter what your passion is—from yoga to weight lifting—you’ll have access to an incredible recreation facility, as well as resources and trainers who can help you reach your wellness goals.

CAMPUS REC CENTER

The Campus Recreation Center on West Campus serves more than 250,000 student and faculty/staff visits annually.

More than 10,000 square feet

More than 10,000 square feet of strength and conditioning spaces, featuring weight machines, free weights, treadmills, steppers, ellipticals, upright and recumbent bikes, an upper-body cycle, and rowing machines.

CLASSES

Enroll in cardio classes that include spinning, kickboxing, and Zumba; a variety of Strength & Sculpt classes; Mixed Format Classes like Aqua Fit, Belly Dance Core, Tabata and Self Defense; and Mind/Body classes from yoga basics to Power Vinyasa Yoga.

THREE MULTIPURPOSE GYMS

Three multi-purpose gymnasiums feature a total of five hardwood basketball courts.

Indoor track

Bring your running or walking workout inside with our 1/10th-mile banked track.

Two Racquetball courts

Make reservations at the front desk for one of two racquetball/wallyball courts.

Indoor climbing wall

With climbing heights of 31-feet, and more than 800 different handholds and eight belaying stations, the climbing wall is designed for all abilities. Skills classes are offered and the area is staffed for safety, technical hints and belaying.

Pool

A 25-yard, six-lane lap swim pool with a diving well, Butler-Hancock is available for student use and accessible via the Campus Recreation Center.

OUTDOOR PURSUITS

There’s a lot to do at UNC, from intramural sports to Frisbee golf, and with our unique Outdoor Pursuits program, you'll have easy access to Colorado's amazing outdoor adventures with trips, skills workshops, free gear rental and knowledgeable advice for planning and preparation.

Outdoor Pursuit Workshops

Learn Leave-No-Trace Principles, camp kitchen set-up, snowshoeing, bike maintenance, s’more making, hiking, rock climbing and more.

The Outdoor Gear Shop

Free check-out of items like tents, backpacks, snowboards, sleeping bags, cooking gear, kayaks and more! 
Staff can also give you ideas for great places to explore.

Adventure Trips

Plan your next outdoor adventure with Campus Recreation! Semesterly trips include white water rafting, camping, hiking, rock climbing, skiing and more.

Extended Orientation Adventure
and Service Trips

Get to know other new students, student leaders, and staff or faculty before the first semester begins! A sample trip might include camping, rafting and horseback riding with an outdoor service project.

Blue Cruisers Bike Share Program

This program strives to provide an alternative to driving and promote bear pride on campus. Our fleet of 100 cruiser bicycles and 20 Mountain Bikes are available to check out free of charge. Each bike comes with a helmet and lock, as well as the option to use a front-mounted basket.

Climbing Wall and Ropes Course

No matter your skill level, try out UNC’s climbing wall. And to deepen and test your skills, you’ll find annual climbing competitions, patron setting days and beginners' and ladies' climb nights.
