Transfer FAQ’s
Check out the most frequently asked questions (and the UNC responses) that transfer students ask. This is a great source of information.
TRANSFER STUDENT CHECKLIST
UNC has broken down the admissions process into 6 easy steps for you to follow. If you have any further questions please visit our Admissions Homepage or contact the UNC Admissions Office at 1(888)700-4UNC or by email at admissions.help@unco.edu.
1. Application: Complete the application online at www.GoBears.unco.edu and pay the processing fee: $45 for 4-year transfers; $20 for community college transfers.
2. Transcripts: Have an official transcript from all colleges and attended (and high school records if applicable) sent to the Office of Admissions, University of Northern Colorado, Campus Box 10, Greeley, CO 80639. If you are completing an AA, AS or AGS degree, have your school send a final transcript sending the completion of the degree as soon as possible. Click here for transfer student eligibility standards: http://catalog.unco.edu/2006-07HTML/2006-2007-07-05.html
3. Financial Aid: Students must submit the FAFSA to be eligible for financial aid. March 1 is the priority date to have the FAFSA received by the processor. UNC's FAFSA school code is 001349. Colorado residents can apply for the College Opportunity Fund or stipend online at CollegeInColorado.org.
4. Advising: Once you are admitted and your transfer credit evaluation is complete, be sure to schedule an appointment with your academic advisor. If you have not declared a major, contact the Academic Support and Advising Office at (970) 351-1391 or advising@unco.edu
5. Health Insurance/Immunizations: All UNC students are required to be insured. All students with 9 or more semester hours are automatically enrolled in the university student health insurance plan and billed along with other university services. If you have other insurance, you must show proof of insurance and submit a waiver form to the UNC Health Insurance Office by the 10th day of classes . Additionally, you will need to submit your proof of immunization to the UNC Health Center.
6. Residence Life and Housing: Students who have either earned 20 or more semester hours or who are age 20 or above are not required to live in the residence halls. Check out the website for university housing options. http://housing.unco.edu/
UPDATES AND CHANGES FOR FALL 08
UNC Biology Program
UNC has been honored with an award from the National Science Foundation to support and enhance the success of students who major in the biological sciences. This BIOTA program provides scholarships, specialized courses, research experiences, and customized academic advising. For application information, check out the biology web site at http://www.unco.edu/nhs/biology
UNC URSA Account & Bearmail
All accepted UNC students are assigned a student identification number called a Bear ID number as well as a student email address through their URSA account. It is extremely important that students check their email regularly or have it forwarded to an account they use, as many important messages regarding classes, financial aid, and other information is sent through email.
UNC Business Program
University of Northern Colorado was named a recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award - the nation's highest honor for quality and performance excellence.
