Freshman Checklist
UNC has broken down the admissions process into four easy steps for you to follow. If you have any further questions please visit our Admissions Homepage or contact the UNC Admissions Office at 1(888)700-4UNC or by email at admissions.help@unco.edu.

1. Application Apply to UNC online. UNC does not have an admissions deadline but recommends that students apply fall semester of their senior year. To apply students will need to submit an application, the $45 application fee, their official high school transcripts and their ACT or SAT scores. Essays and letters of recommendation are not required unless students do not meet UNC’s automatic admission requirements. Students should receive an admission decision about three to four weeks after the application file is complete.

2. Residence Life & Housing After students have been accepted they may go online and complete their housing contracts. To complete a contract students must submit a $250 deposit to reserve their room. Deposits are refundable in full until the end of April, 2008.

3. Financial Aid Students must submit the FAFSA to be eligible for financial aid. March 1 is the priority date to have the federal processor receive your FAFSA. UNC's FAFSA school code is 001349. Colorado residents can apply for the College Opportunity Fund or stipend online at CollegeInColorado.org.

4. Orientation & Registration The last step in the UNC enrollment process is New Student Orientation for registration. Registration for New Student Orientation will occur in April.

5. Final High School Transcripts Students must submit their final high school transcripts after graduation. Students who do not submit their final high school transcripts will not be eligible to register for their spring courses at UNC.

6. Health Insurance All UNC students are required to be insured. All students with 9 or more semester hours are automatically enrolled in the university student health insurance plan and billed along with other university services. If you have other insurance, you must show proof of insurance and submit a waiver form to the UNC Health Insurance Office by the 10th day of classes.

7. Move-In Day Classes at UNC will begin on Monday, August 25, 2008. The Residence Halls will open Thursday, August 21. More information regarding Move-In day will be mailed to students in the spring. A list of “What to Bring” is available online at http://housing.unco.edu/prospective/bring.htm.
