Hometown: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Academic Year: Junior
Area(s) of study: Bachelor of Music Education (k-12) and Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance
Pride of the Rockies Marching Band, Northern Colorado Chamber Choir, Symphonic Band, Chamber Music, Volleyball, and Music Theory Tutoring.
My Plan After College:
I plan to teach music in elementary schools, and perform in orchestras and chamber music groups. I also plan to get a Masters in Music in either Conducting or Musicology, as well as a second Masters in Flute Performance. I loved living in different countries, and experiencing different cultures, so I also plan to live outside of the US when I get both of my Bachelors degrees.
Why I chose UNC:
I initially chose UNC because of the renowned music program. However, I found a great community of people that make this place feel like home. I knew that this community would be a place that I could not only grow academically, but as a person.
Advise to my Freshman Self:
Live in the moment, and don't worry about what will happen in the future. Try as hard as you can and your hard work will pay off in ways you won't even expect.
