You should come to one of these events if you want to:
- Learn more about UNC at the information fair
- Meet with counselors to discuss financial aid and scholarships
- Review your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Complete your housing and dining contract (if you haven’t already)
- Apply for admission (if you haven’t already)
- Connect with UNC students

All events run from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.and parking is free!
Here’s what you can do at a UNC Become a Bear Open House Event
Participate in the Info Fair
There will be approximately 30 booths representing our academic areas, support services, and various organizations at UNC. Take some time to find out more about our campus and all the different ways you could get involved at UNC. Examples of available booths include, but are not limited to: College of Education & Behavioral Sciences, College of Humanities & Social Sciences, College of Natural & Health Sciences, College of Performing & Visual Arts, Monfort College of Business, New Student Orientation, Housing & Residential Education,Dining Services, Student Activities, ROTC programs, and Study Abroad Opportunities.
Attend Helpful Presentations
We’ll have a variety of special informative sessions that you can sit in on, such as:
- Financial Aid Basics Find out how to pay for college with the assistance of financial aid and scholarships. Also learn the importance of and tips and tricks for filing the FAFSA
- Offered at 5:45pm, 6:15pm and 6:45pm
- Choosing a Roommate Learn about the process of choosing a roommate at UNC, whether you have a specific person in mind.
- Offered at 5:45pm and 6:45pm
- I'm Admitted, Now What? Learn about all of the next steps to take following admission to UNC. This presentation will cover topics such as Orientation, Welcome Weekend, Getting a Job and much more.
- Offered at 6:15pm and 7:15pm

We can assist you set up your URSA online student portal and Bearmail account, look up forgotten passwords, and more (like free UNC ring tones!)…
Find Out How to Pay for College
Financial aid presentations will be offered, and if they don’t answer all of your questions, advisors will be on hand to discuss financial aid and scholarship options with you individually. Also pick up information about the new Bear Pay monthly payment plan.
Complete your Housing & Dining Contract
Housing experts can help you complete your housing and dining contract, and answer all your questions about living on campus!
Apply for Admission
Admissions counselors will be on hand to process your application right there with you, and—in most cases—give you an immediate admissions decision. Even if you’re not ready to apply yet, they can answer all your questions, too!
Register to win a $500 Scholarship!
We will be drawing one lucky winner at each event. You don’t even need to be present to win!

What to bring
If you are interested in completing a housing & dining contract on-site:
- Your Bear ID # (if you know it)
- $200 for housing deposit (payable by cash or check only)
If you are applying for admission:
- Official High School Transcript
- Copy of ACT or SAT scores (these may be on your high school transcript)
- (If you have already had ACT or SAT send us the scores, we may be able to look them up.)
- Completed online application or paper application (extras will be available on-site)
- $45 Application Fee (payable by cash or check only)
- Optional: Letters of recommendation and personal essay
