The Office of Budget and Institutional Analysis (OBIA) is a merger of the former Budget Office and the Institutional Research and Planning Office.
The mission of OBIA is to improve decision-making at UNC by providing greater access to consistent and accurate data, providing consulting support to resolve information needs, facilitating the connection between planning and budgeting, and providing greater analytic support to campus decision-makers.
Current priorities for OBIA include:
- Implementing the Banner Operational Data Store (ODS) and Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) in partnership with colleagues from Information Technology as well as other administrative and academic units.
- Developing and documenting new processes for meeting the myriad of mandated and other external reporting requirements.
- Identifying and implementing specific areas for improvement for the University budget process.
- Providing support for the campus Academic Planning process by developing and maintaining key metrics.
- Providing enhanced communication and outreach to key constituents on campus regarding the information, resources, and support that OBIA can provide
