Synthesize Our Strengths

• Hank Brown took initiative to include diversity
• Students know what they want, value leadership and mentoring opportunities
• [Continuing students] are more knowledgeable from being here longer- longevity at UNC
• Opportunities for using campus resources
• Staff being able to consider other campus positions and opportunities

See the Future

• Move from speaking about [diversity] to acting on it
• Scholarships
• Have 50% of faculty in endowed positions
• Student oriented [friendly] buildings
• Keep students here on the weekends
• A student center [or student union] with a bowling alley, etc.
• Growth within the departments
• Keep our strengths strong
• Example- Teacher college
• Keep extracurricular opportunities open for students
• Best for our students- invest in them

Find Ways to Get there

• [Be] competitive
• Make us known within the state and against oth4er schools who we are and what we offer
• Tasks and steps---
• Focus on what we already have, no more commissions, focus groups--- takes too long
• Always the same people [who participate in the commissions], they are unorganized
• [Need] a proactive approach—we’re always in fire drills- never dealing with the real thing
