Campus Conversations Summaries
Friday October 20, 2:00-3:00 pm Facilitators – Marcus Embry and Robbyn Wacker
Strengths:
- Commitment
- Caring- Faculty care about students success; working with students to help them get where they need to be
- Size of UNC- good size
- Collegiality of faculty and students; faculty are supportive of each other
- Alumni- lots of students who in turn support our current students (as mentors, internships, supervisors)
Future:
- Good funding- with a little more we could be even better;
- not grow above 15,000 students- grow strategically
- School of music is right size
- Maybe a little growth
- Btu we need more facilities (eg. teach students how to listen in a real recital hall; need a little e more money to huge programs)
- Faculty workload needs to be relieved- negative impact on teaching , ect/ FT, TT faculty will make a difference and help us do what we need to do better; care about students, etc.
- Faculty supplied with tools they need to be successful in teachings/research-scholarship
- Creative student learning
- Faculty staff , students proud to be a part of UNC
- Need to advertise the good things we do; need a better image
Goals:
- Work for stable funding (on state levels, etc)
- Work with community to work enhance “image” of Greeley
- Recruit/retain good faculty
- Enough resources so faculty are not over stretched
- Listening to faculty; establish trust
- True support for shared governance
- Work environment (eg. Salary, workload, collegiality, support)
