Ursa Instructions for Faculty/Advisors
Every faculty and staff member at the University of Northern Colorado has access to Ursa. Ursa is the secure entry point and personal portal for UNC students, faculty and administrative staff.
Accessing Ursa

- Using a web browser, go to the Ursa site at http://ursa.unco.edu. If you have a pop-up blocker installed on your computer you will need to follow the instructions on the screen in order to access Ursa.
- In the Secure Access Login area you will need to enter your User Name and Password and then click the Login button. Your Ursa username and password are the same that as those used to access the campus computer network.
- There will be several tabs across the top of the screen.
- Home – contains announcements, web services and more.
- Faculty and Advisors – contains access to Banner for course information, grading, advisee information, etc.
- My Tab – contains information on personalizing Ursa
Faculty and Advisor Tab
The Faculty and Advisor tab is a tab dedicated to faculty and advisor services and resources. Among the choices are:
- Term Selection – this lets you select the term that you want to work with or search.
- CRN Selection – this will allow you select from the CRN’s (Course Reference Numbers) that you are an instructor. Once you do this you can maintain course information such as overrides and office hours.
- Faculty Detail Schedule – this shows the courses that you are assigned to in a given term. It gives details such as credits, level, syllabi information, roster, enrollment counts, and scheduled meeting times.
- Week at a Glance – this is a different look at the courses you are teaching. It will break it down into a calendar view; similar to what the students will see when they look at their week at a glance.
- Detail Class List – this will show you a class roster with additional details such as a student’s major, level, college, classification, as well as the numeric order in which they registered for the course.
- Summary Class List – this will show you a summary class roster with minimal information such as name, bear number, and registration status. Grades can also be entered from this form.
- Registration Overrides – this is where you would go to process registration overrides for individual students. You will be able to choose from two options: Instructor Consent (a general override of prerequisites and capacity) or Capacity Override.
- Active Assignments – this will show you the courses that you are assigned to in the current term that have an active status (similar to the Faculty Detail Schedule).
- Class Schedule – this is the link that will allow you to look at the schedule of classes for a particular term. There are a variety of criteria that you can search on, but subject always has to be entered.
- Course Catalog – this will allow you to search for courses that are listed in the catalog. There is a variety of criteria that you can search on, but subject always has to be entered.
- Office Hours – this is an additional area where you will be able to maintain your office hours for each term. It can be changed at any point in the term.
- Student Information Menu – this area will allow you to look at student information such as address and phone, E-mail, and class schedule, major, advisor, and unofficial transcript.
Logging out of Ursa
For security reasons it is very important to log out of Ursa at the end of your session. To log out, click on the Logout button in the upper right corner of the screen. This button is visible regardless of which Ursa page is active. The automatic logout assures that if you walk away from your computer and/or forget to log out, the system will automatically log you out after thirty minutes of inactivity to protect your information.

351-4357 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and midnight, Monday – Friday and Noon – 7:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
