HELPFUL HINTS FOR URSA
WEEK ONE
Beware: Prerequisites and Co-requisites are written as they are stated in the catalog –Banner is processing those exactly as they are written.
Example: CHEM 451: Prerequisites are CHEM 332, MATH 233, and PHYS 241.
Co requisites are CHEM 321 and CHEM 453
If a student completed CHEM 321 fall 05 and tries to register for CHEM 451 for fall 2006, the system will only look for CHEM 321 as a co requisite, not a prerequisite (as is the example here), thus the system will not allow the student’s registration.
Solution: The faculty member (or staff member with access granted by the Dean) will need to override (our old faculty release) to allow the student in the course.
Security for Ursa
Faculty members will automatically have access to the faculty self-service, which includes the faculty override option (faculty release). Anyone in this classification (instructor of record of at least one course) does not need to submit an Ursa Security Form.
If a director is not also an “instructor of record”, the director will need to submit the Ursa Security Form for Student Module – if the director needs faculty override access, please include that in the brief job description and have the dean of the college sign the form. The access form is located at www.unco.edu/AboutUrsa
Director/Staff overrides (faculty releases) – there is a specific form/screen to perform this function – SFASRPO, student registration override.
FAQs submitted by our faculty members during the Ursa demonstrations can be found at About Ursa (www.unco.edu/AboutUrsa). Check it out!
Registration Dates for students: Assigned registration dates for fall 2006 can be found from the homepage, click faculty/staff, and click registration dates. It is important to note assigned registration dates are on completed credits which does not include spring enrollment. Students can verify their completed credits on their Personal Information on Webster.
Summer PAC # is 2580 for all students. For fall, we are recommending that students meet with their advisor before registration although no PAC# is necessary to register on Ursa. PAC Numbers are be explored for spring 2007 preregistration.
Students can find their fall class schedule on student self-service under Registration History, Detail Schedule, or Week at a Glance.
Looking to enter your fall 2006 textbooks? Ursa’s “Faculty” tab contains a link to a brand-new, intermediate textbook application. There will be a public textbook website providing students, bookstores and other interested parties with the details you have entered.
