Welcome to UNC!
Congratulations on your admission to Northern Colorado! We are excited for the opportunity to introduce you and your family to UNC through our New Student Orientation Program.
New Student Orientation is designed for new students to explore all that UNC has to offer including important information for your academic, personal, and financial future. Students will have the opportunity to meet current students as well as other incoming students within their area of interest.
For freshman students, the two-day program begins with an opportunity to connect with other students, learn ways to get involved on campus, participate in an interactive theater producation concerning health and safety on campus, and hear about housing on campus. The evening of the first day allows students to hang out and have fun in our Campus Recreation Center and one our residence halls, Wiebking Hall, which is where all students stay overnight together. The second day students will focus on academics, meet with an academic advisor, and register for classes. There is also an opportunity to browse our University Fair to collect information from various student clubs and organizations as well as take a tour of the campus. Transfer students will receive information pertinent for the transition to UNC from various offices across campus. Since meeting with an advisor and registering for classes can be challenging in the summer months, Orientation provides designated times for students to meet advisors and receive assistance with registration. Parents and family members of new students are also invited to attend Orientation with students. Approximately half of our students bring someone with them and the decision to attend Parent Orientation is different for each family. You may find it helpful to view the parent schedule to see if the information provided is important to you. Parents of transfer students may attend with their student and follow the same Transfer Orientation schedule.
