About the Simulator

Nathan Wakefield and I developed this Flash Applet for Dr. Novak's Population Modeling class, Fall 2007. The axes on the graph represent the states of a husband and wife engaged in conversation.

  • The center of the graph represents a neutral conversation, the top right corner represents a positive overall state for both members of the couple.
  • As you "Play" the conversation, each dot represents the result of one wife-husband "turn" in the conversation.
  • At some point, every conversation reaches a "steady state" under this model.
  • The various coefficients are related to the model we're using for the conversation. More details will be posted here later.
  • Can you figure out what the coefficients do to the simulated converstation?
