Big Thanks to the "Number and Operations Fairy":

Dr. Michelle Chamberlin

We all owe a big debt to Dr. Michelle Chamberlin, mathematics educator and Number and Operations Guru. Although most of the students in Math 181 at UNC never met what we affectionately call the "Number and Operations Fairy", we all have benefited from her efforts.

About three weeks before each class period, I (Joe) would magically receive lesson plans, activities, and suggestions for homework and quizzes from Dr. Chamberlin. I would then modify the activities and plans for our class at UNC and post the modified activites on this website. Thus, most of the 65+ documents on this website, including most of the in-class handouts are based on Dr. Chamberlin's activities for her Number and Operations courses.

Note: Although Dr. Chamberlin can take credit for any good activities on this page, I've made many modifications, so all errors and shortcomings are entirely my fault.
