Dean’s Welcome Statement

College of Natural and Health Sciences

Welcome to the College of Natural and Health Sciences!

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students, I’d like to welcome you to the website of the College of Natural and Health Sciences. The College was formed in July 2005 through the merger of programs and units formerly in the College of Health and Human Sciences with mathematical and natural science disciplines previously located in Arts and Sciences. Natural and Health Sciences includes five academic schools, three academic departments, four institutes, two centers, the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Clinic, and a variety of programs that provide the framework for high quality teaching, scholarship, and service activities in the natural, health, and human sciences.

I invite you to explore this website to learn more about the people and activities that make up the College of Natural and Health Sciences. Through these pages, prospective and current students can examine the many opportunities for study in the excellent undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the College. These opportunities include degree programs at the baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral levels. The College is also an important contributor to the education of students who pursue majors outside of the natural and health sciences, providing a firm foundation in these areas.

On these pages you can discover the many scholarly and research endeavors of the College’s faculty, staff, and students. The College is a community of teacher-scholars, who view instruction and professional engagement as mutually reinforcing activities. Research projects in the natural and health science disciplines span the different forms of scholarship - teaching, discovery, application, and integration - many offering opportunities for student participation, an area of special emphasis in the College. In addition, Natural and Health Sciences personnel also make significant service contributions to the University, profession, and community at large, applying their expertise to address a variety of institutional, disciplinary, and societal needs.

Whether you view these pages as a prospective or current student, a faculty or staff member, alumnus, or other visitor, I hope that you will find them useful and informative. Thank you for visiting the College website.
