Deanna Meinke is a Professor of Audiology and Speech-Language Sciences at the University of Northern Colorado. She has both undergraduate and graduate student teaching responsibilities for audiology and speech-language-hearing science courses where she enjoys sharing her passion for hearing loss prevention. Her research interests include distortion product otoacoustic emissions and the prevention of noise-induced hearing loss across the lifespan. Additionally, she serves as a consultant for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, industry, and hearing conservation service providers.

Dr. Meinke’s initial interest in research related to the prevention of noise-induced hearing loss began during her master’s degree training under Dr.’s James Lankford and John Franks at Northern Illinois University. At the University of Colorado, Dr Meinke was able to pursue her doctorate in Speech and Hearing Sciences with a research emphasis in otoacoustic emissions while working in the lab of Dr.’s Brenda Lonsbury-Martin and Glen Martin at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado and mentored by her academic advisor, Dr Kathryn Arehart at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. Prior to pursing a research/teaching career, Dr. Meinke established clinical services and served as Director of Audiology at the Greeley Medical Clinic and subsequently worked as an occupational audiologist for Associates in Acoustics, Inc. In 2004, Dr. Meinke joined the faculty at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. Dr. Meinke currently serves as Past-President of the National Hearing Conservation Association, chairperson of the Safe-In-Sound Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention Award for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and workshop faculty member for the Dangerous Decibels program at the Oregon Health & Science University.
