Graduate School Requirements:

  1. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

  3. Non-refundable processing fee.
  4. Two official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate studies attended since high school.

Note: GREs are not required.

Note: During the application process, please choose Graduate Interdisciplinary Degree Program-MA (NAIL) as your degree major and choose Online as your location.

Note: As part of the NAIL program, you are applying for both the M.A. and a licensure program. Please make sure both the Non-Degree Licensure and M.A. program options are checked on your application form and be sure to include the Application for Educator License.

Native American Innovative Leadership Program Requirements:

  1. A baccalaureate degree from accredited college or university and have a grade point of 3.00 or better [4.00 point scale] on the most recent 60 semester hours.
  2. Current vita or resume which documents professional experiences in education
  3. Professional assessment forms from two individuals, one of whom is qualified to provide a review of your academic ability, and one of whom may assess your professional ability (immediate supervisor, such as school principal, is strongly suggested).

Materials to Submit to the Native American Innovative Leadership Program

  1. Graduate Program Applicant Background Information Sheet.
  2. Current vita or resume which documents professional experiences in education
  3. Professional assessment forms from two individuals, one of whom is qualified to provide a review of your academic ability, and one of whom may assess your professional ability.
  4. Signed copy of the Participant Agreement Form.
  5. Writen personal statement (see below)

Detailed personal statement which describes your:

  1. Demonstrated commitment to education
  2. Contributions to professional education
  3. Immediate and long-range personal, professional, and academic goals
  4. Rationale for pursuing the Principal or Special Education Director license
  5. Strengths and weaknesses as they apply to educational leadership
  6. As part of your personal statement, you are also asked to provide a brief essay in which you identify and discuss a significant, current educational problem. Describe how you would attempt to solve the problem identified.

Admission Selection Criteria
  1. Native American
  2. Valid teaching certificate (required for principal/special education director licensure)
  3. At least one year of teaching experience (required for licensure), with three or more years of teaching experience preferred
  4. 3.00 or better on last 60 hours of university or college course work completed
  5. Currently employed in a predominantly Native American school
  6. Letter of Professional Assessment from school principal
  7. Two complimentary letters of recommendations in file
  8. Essay clearly demonstrates the following:
    • Commitment to Native American education
    • Contributions to professional education
    • Immediate and long-range personal, professional, and academic goals
    • Rationale for pursuing a principal or special education license
    • Analysis of strengths and weaknesses as they apply to educational leadership
    • Well written discussion of a significant, current educational problem, preferably confronting educators of Native American student
  9. Resume demonstrates a strong and consistent career path
  10. Approval for admittance by Graduate Office
