Cohort 1 students will attend the spring graduation ceremony and receive they MA's degrees on Friday, May 9th at 7:00 in the Butler-Hancock Field House.
The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) welcomes you to the home of the Native American Innovative Leadership Project (NAIL).
The University of Northern Colorado (summer 2005) was awarded a grant through the Office of Indian Education (OIE), designed for 30 Native American teachers from any tribe who wish to advance their career in leadership. The 1st cohort, which including 6 participates, will graduate in May, 2008. The 2nd cohort, inculding 24 participants, is expected to graduate in Spring, 2009.
The program is open to all Native American educators who have completed at least one year of teaching and are interested in assuming roles as school leaders. Participants will be required by the Office of Indian Education to serve as administrators (principals or special education directors) in schools serving predominantly Native American students for 3 years. The year of Induction service will be counted as a year of service for terms of payback and program site coordinators will assist students with obtaining Induction placement.
Participants who do not complete the program or do not serve as administrators following completion of the program will be required to pay back the tuition funding provided by the Office of Indian Education under federal student loan terms. For details of participant benefits, responsibilities, and payback, please refer to the Participant Agreement .
The faculty and technical support staff working on this project are very excited to offer this opportunity for American Indian Educators to become effective education leaders in their communities. If you have questions about the project please contact us.
