TTY Directions
- Plug TTY into outlet.
- Turn on power.
- Place telephone receiver on suction cups on the back of the TTY with the phone cord extending to the left.
- Place a call through Colorado Relay by dialing 8-1-800-659-2656.
- The operator answers by asking what number you are calling.
- You type in a local number and then GA which means for the operator to go ahead.
- The operator dials the number. On the screen, it will show how many times the phone rings before it is answered.
- The operator asks the person you are calling if he/she has ever received a relay call before. If he/she has not, the process is explained.
- The operator then tells you your party has answered.
- Type a greeting such as "Hi! This is Sally." Explain why you are calling. Then you type GA which signifies to the person on the other end of the phone line that you are through and it is his/her turn to speak.
- You do not respond to the other person's comments until he/she in turn tells you GA which means he/she is through, and it is your turn.
- When you are ready to conclude the conversation, type SK SK at the end of your last transmission. This indicates that you are finished and will hang up unless the other person continues the conversation. When he/she is finished, he/she will type SK SK, and you may hang up.
