Study Abroad this summer in Cologne, Germany

Students will study at the University of Applied Sciences, Cologne. Students will take two 3-credit courses titled International Trade and European Business Environment. The courses will transfer to UNC for credit in ECON 344 and BA/BAMK 495. The courses include field trips to companies and cultural sites in and around Cologne as well as day-trips to Frankfurt am Main and Brussels, with visits to the European Central Bank, the German Stock Exchange, and the European Union. Additionally, guest lecturers working in the fields of International Trade and the European Business Environment will contribute a practical approach to the theory studied in class. Courses will take place Monday-Thursday. Students will have three-day weekends for exploration of Europe.

Students participating in exchange will pay tuition and fees to UNC. They will pay all other expenses in Germany. The budget given in US dollars is an estimate and is subject to change.

Eligibility and Availability


To apply, students must have at least a 2.5 GPA, and they must have taken ECON 203 and ECON 205 prior to the program. There is no limit on the number of UNC students who can participate.

Housing and Meals


Students will stay in a double room at the Hostel Köln. Rooms include a private bathroom and shower. Breakfast is provided daily. Students will be responsible for lunch and dinner.

Application


Students must first complete the UNC study abroad application. Applications will be evaluated and selections will be made immediately after the application deadline.

Students will also need to complete the Cologne University Application at the time of applying to CIE.

Thus, you will turn in 2 different, completed applications.

Visa


U.S. students do not have to apply for a visa in advance.
