This program will explore Shakespeare’s London. Students will attend Shakespeare plays performed at the Shakespeare’s Globe Theater in London and by the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon. To immerse the students more fully into English culture they will also attend additional theatrical productions in the West End, participate in pre- and post- show lectures and explore museums art galleries and castles.

In May, prior to leaving for London, each student will be asked to participate in an online preparation module. This module will include the following tasks: reading and watching a performance video of each of the plays that the student will see in performance in June, analyzing selected literary criticism, exploring online resources that focus on the history of London theater and read and watch video background information on Shakespeare.

*Students who withdraw after this date will be responsible for the full program costs & tuition.


Costs


The estimated total cost for the program is $3,950 - $4,250 which includes tuition, accommodations, all excursions, field trips, in-country transportation, health insurance, and personal funds, round-trip airfare, and all meals. Final tuition cost will be dependent on enrollment numbers.

Eligibility


This program is open to all UNC students who have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours by the time of departure with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.

Apply


Applications will be considered on a first-come-first-serve basis. Program is full. Waitlist only.

Students will need to pay a $400 deposit to OES at the time of application. Application deadline February 15, 2014.
