Lynne Fukuda, an instructor of Psychology at Leeward Community College. Fukuda has worked previously as an instructor of Anthropology at Windward Community College, a part-time instructor of Biology at Hawaii Pacific University, and an instructor at Central Texas College, based in Hawaii at Schofield Barracks. She is a regular contributor to this journal in her monthly column, “The View from Here.” Her previous column, "Fukuda's Chalkboard," can be found in the January-August 2002 editions of this journal, as well as various other writings in the 2001 editions.
Peter L. Banfe, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of International Business at Ohio Northern University in the James F. Dicke College of Business Administration. His areas of academic interest include learning pedagogy, entrepreneurship, and global business.
Jose E. Coll, Ph.D., M.S.W. is an Associate Clinical Professor and Director of the Military Social Work Program at the University of Southern California. Dr. Coll was previously the Chair for the Department of Social Work at Saint Leo University. Dr. Coll’s research interests are predominantly focused on the development of worldviews and its relationship to student development, cognitive complexities, and multicultural counseling. He has published and presented on worldviews in national and international conferences. He is also the author of the book titled “A developmental guide to research: A student/faculty handbook”; and has also published various studies on underage college drinking, advising, and optimism.
Teresa Guzman is currently an undergraduate social work student at Saint Leo University. Ms. Guzman is currently co-authoring various articles on underage drinking and advising. Her research interests are predominantly on adolescent maladaptive behaviors and diversity in higher education.
Jennifer M. Purcell, Ph.D., is an Education Specialist and core faculty member in the Academy of Medical Educators at Touro University College of Medicine. Prior to earning her doctorate, she worked in academic and student affairs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Purcell is currently involved in curricular design and evaluation, faculty development related to teaching and research, and student academic support. Her research interests include medical student socialization and the development of faculty from clinician to researcher-educator.

S. Purcell Woodard, Ph.D., is an Assistant Vice President within the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity at the University of Washington. Steve’s poetry has appeared earlier in this and other journals, including Multicultural Education, Left Curve, Taboo, and the Journal of Critical Inquiry into Curriculum and Instruction, as well as in the book, Becoming multicultural educators: Personal journey toward professional agency.
