An Angel with Broken Wings

I am an angel with broken wings,
So that I cannot fly away,
I am on Earth for a time,
To live like the mortals who suffer,
And learn in life.
I am an angel with broken wings,
Who wishes to fly away,
But weighed down by worldly needs of mortals,
And earthly duties.
I am an angel with broken wings,
Looking at my ruffled feathers,
Longing to have the cooling breeze,
And the kindly sun to smile upon my form.
I am an angel with broken wings,
Able to feel the suffering of the mortals,
To experience poverty, and grief,
Sickness, injustice, and death.
I am angel with broken wings,
Desiring to bring comfort to the children,
To kiss them goodnight and away their tears,
To carry their heavy burdens on my broken wings.
I am an angel with broken wings,
Who tries to understand,
The needs and desires of the human heart,
And tries to teach unconditional love to those who do not know.
I am angel with broken wings,
Unable to fly away,
To find relief from the unkindness and evil,
That sometimes permeates the world.
I am angel with broken wings,
Who will heal once again,
After bringing comfort to those who need it,
And will grow new wings to fly away.
I am an angel with broken wings,
Who will go back once again,
To the Heaven where the sun is kind,
And the gentle breezes unruffle my feathered wings.
I am an angel with broken wings,
Who will bring comfort to the world,
For a brief time,
The message of unconditional love.
I am an angel with broken wings,
Who will soon fade away like the morning dew,
Tired from the suffering of this life,
Worn from the onslaught of evil,
And yet, trying hard to bring hope and faith.
I am an angel with broken wings,
Who will suffer for a time,
Until God calls me home to Heaven,
Where I will be able to rest at last,
And when my eyes open there will be light and love.
