Contributors to June/July AE-Extra

Lynne Fukuda, an instructor of Anthropology at Windward Community College, a part-time instructor of Biology at Hawaii Pacific University, and an instructor at Central Texas College, based in Hawaii at Schofield Barracks.  Ms Fukuda is a regular contributor to this journal in her monthly column, “The View from Here.”  Her previous column, "Fukuda's Chalkboard," can be found in the January-August 2002 editions of this journal, as well as various other writings in the 2001 editions.

Dan Lukiv, M.Ed., teaches English and creative writing at McNaughton Centre, Quesnel, BC, Canada. He is a poet, novelist, short story and article writer, and an independent education researcher. His writing has appeared over two thousand times in 18 countries. His formal apprenticeship as a writer includes intensive personal direction from masters such as Canada's Professor Robert Harlow, the USA's Paul Bagdon, and England's D. M. Thomas. He edits a literary journal, CHALLENGER international, which focuses attention on young, up-and-coming Canadian poets. He also edits The Journal of Secondary Alternate Education. He is married and has four daughters.

Geraldine Rose Daniels works as an administrator in state government in Alabama. She is a former Public Affairs Officer with the United States Army Reserve. A licensed attorney and registered mediator in Alabama, she received her undergraduate degree in News and Public Affairs with a double minor in Political Science and Marketing from the University of Alabama. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Interactive technology from the University.  She is a Certified Public Manager and South Central Public Health Leadership Institute scholar. She holds certifications in Property Management from the National Property Association, namely: CPPS, CPPA and CPPM.

Wendy Dickinson, PhD, is the Coordinator of Mathematics at the Ringling School of Art and Design. Dr. Dickinson teaches statistical graphing, visual mathematics, and geometry. Her research interests include statistical methodology, program evaluation, student assessment, and statistical software applications for data analysis and graphical display.

Anthony J. Onwuegbuzie, Ph.D., is professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling at Sam Houston State University. He teaches courses in qualitative research, quantitative research, and mixed methods. His research topics primarily involve disadvantaged and under-served populations such as minorities, children living in war zones, students with special needs, and juvenile delinquents.  He also writes extensively on qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methodological topics. Dr. Onwuegbuzie has secured more than 200 refereed journal articles and book chapters.

Carla R. Payne, PhD, retired in 2006 as Professor of Graduate Studies at Vermont College of Union Institute and University in Montpelier, Vermont, where she supervised low residency MA students in individualized interdisciplinary studies and designed and implemented an online Master’s program.  She continues to teach ethics and philosophy online for the Community College of Vermont.  Her research interests include the philosophy of education and the impact (s) of educational technology on teaching and learning. Dr. Payne is currently editing the volume Information Technology and Constructivism in Higher Education:  Progressive Learning Frameworks.

Matilda Naputi Rivera, PhD, possesses a Ph.D. in Language Studies.  At the age of 16, while still a junior in high school, Dr. Rivera, formerly Matilda M. Naputi, wrote an anthology of poems titled, Teen-Age Pros and Cons, published in 1990 by Carlton Press, Inc. in New York.  She has received numerous awards, including the Governor’s Arts Award and Legislative Resolutions, for her anthology publication and various inspirational poems published in other professional poetry publications.  She is an ESL Teacher/Coordinator with the Guam Public School System and an Adjunct Professor for the University of Guam’s Language and Literacy Master’s Program.  She is married and has three young children who continue to give her inspiration.
